Leian Lee

Leian completed her first degree, a BSc in Physiology with a 2:1 in 1998 she then went on to qualify as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2001 with a First Class Honours BSc degree from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle.

She started her career in the NHS where she gained a grounding in all areas of physiotherapy from Elderly care to Paediatrics.  These early informative years helped Leian find her passion in Musculoskeletal and Orthopadic Physiotherapy.

Leian soon moved into working at Private Physiotherapy practices throughout the North-East of England alonside the NHS caseload.  This cemented and continued her keen interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.  In her hometown of Sunderland and later in Newcastle; Leian gained experience working in both semi and professional sporting environments including Ladies Football and Rugby.

In her role as a Specialist Physiotherapist at Durham University Hospitals Leian was responsible for the Hydrotherapy Department where she and the team provided aquatic therapy to those with musculoskeletal injuries and post orthopaedic surgery.  She also delivered group physiotherapy sessions to patients following ACL reconstruction, spinal and shoulder surgery.

Leian relocated to Northampton in 2006 and took up a Senior Specialist Physiotherapists role at Northampton General Hospital and also joined an Orthopaedic Department at a local Private hospital to provide post-operative physiotherapy.

Private Practice

She joined the long established Witty, Pask and Buckingham Physiotherapy Practice full time in 2010.  Her caseload is varied and Leian enjoys helping injured athletes and sportspeople of varying abilities to return to their pre injury level of ability.

In 2010 Leian studied with The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute to become a qualified Pilates Instructor.  Leian runs regular classes and 1:1 sessions from within Witty, Pask and Buckingham and also within her own private practice in the community.

For the past 8 years Leian has managed a busy and mixed caseload treating many athletes with sporting injuries and also those with post-operative treatment needs.  Leian is highly experienced in treatment and rehabilitation of all minor and major peripheral joint and spinal orthopaedic surgery.

Leian is experienced in Medicolegal report writing within her areas of expertise.  This includes preparing joint statements and providing clinical assessments/treatment recommendations of condition and prognosis.  Also she is comfortable providing a schedule of loss following negligence claims and has experience in assessment of Quantum.

Leian is a member of the Medico legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Achilles Tendon, Haglund’s Deformity, Plantar fascia, toes, Metatarsals / Morton’s Neuroma, Lateral and medial ankle pain, sprains, Tibialis Posterior and Peroneal issues, Long Toe Flexor and Sesamoiditis, Posterior ankle pain.

Stress Fractures, Medial Shin Pain, Lateral Shin Pain, Compartment Syndrome, ‘Shin splints’, Calf strains and tears.

Knee, patellofemoral, medial knee pain, internal issues with the knee.  Patella Tendon, Hamstring tears, bursitis, hip flexors and adductor issues.

Hip impingement and joint issues. Groin pain and strains and hernias.

Lower back and Pelvis conditions including lumbar spine issues from disc and facet joints and also nerve pains into the leg and buttock.

Mid Back, ribs conditions.  Neck and shoulder conditions including spinal issues, whiplash and RTA treatment.

Shoulder conditions including sprains, strains and impingement. Post-operative rehabilitation for cuff repair, and capsule stabilisation. Acromio-clavicular and sterno-clavicular conditions.

Upper arm and elbow conditions including tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow.

Wrist conditions a including carpal tunnel. Finger and hand conditions including sprains, strains and fractures
